Everything is up to date including drivers and the computer is clean. There are no peripherals attached. Any idea why? This thread is locked. Can you please give a brief of the hardware setup you are facing this on? Did you ever experience similar issues before installting SP3? Thanks Shashank. Monday, January 14, AM. I'm have the same issue with my IBM T42 laptop. Saturday, May 10, AM. I installed SP3 on a Dell Inspiron Laptop and if I close the lid, the computer does not go into standby and screen shows blank and black once lid is opened. I have to hard reboot to get the display back. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'm seeing exactly the same problem. I have a Novatech laptop. Jun 5, 96 0 0. It has been running the OS stably for 3 years now so I don't think that's the issue. All of a sudden I know, we all say that , without any changes to the computer, it has started to freeze up when left idle. When I leave the system for an hour or soand come back to a black screen, I go to move my mouse to bring the desktop back.
The picture of the default XP desktop green fields, blue skies comes back with no taskbar and no icons. I can see the mouse pointer but no keys work including Ctrl-Alt-Del and the Windows key. This has just started happening the last two days and I have no idea what is causing it.
Any insight would be much appreciated. BG Golden Member. Oct 15, 1, 0
