Upland hunting game belts

Growing up, I can remember wearing the same old hand-me-down traditional hunting vest season after season for most of my youth. The design was simple and the vest seemed to serve its intended purpose well, and as near as I could tell it was just like all of the other vests that others were wearing in the field! Traditional vests typically offer more pocket space and storage than other vests and usually have a larger game bag as well making them popular among the die-hard pheasant hunters of the Midwest.

We have quite the assortment of traditional-style upland vests — click here to check them out. Strap vests are rapidly gaining popularity as a lighter and often cooler alternative to traditional hunting vests. Popular among quail and chukar hunters that venture out on longer trips in the field, strap vests are designed to help distribute weight to your hips rather than your shoulders reducing fatigue throughout the day.

Strap vests usually have smaller game bags and less storage than traditional hunting vests, but that is the trade-off for lighter weight and added comfort. Like traditional vests, strap vests come in wide range of models with varying options. For all of the various models of strap vests we offer, click here.

Well suited for smaller birds such as quail, doves, huns, and ruffed grouse, some game belts like the Filson Tin Shooting Bag are even large enough to hold a few sharpies or roosters! Game belts are very comfortable and carry their weight on your hips, they also leave your upper body free and unrestricted for those quick shots on fast flying birds.

Game belts are a nice option for quick out-and-back trips and for covering numerous small patches of cover, they can also double nicely as a great range bag when shooting clays! I love being outdoors chasing dogs and birds. It carries my essentials and keeps me cool er — whether training in the field, going to NSTRA dog trials, or shooting at the range.
