1000 he windows 7 rtm
If the issue isn't related to the driver, what do you suppose it is? Is this particular adapter defective? I doubt that the adapter is defective. As you pointed out in your original post, everything worked fine under Windows XP.
I am using all default settings on my adapter. Is there anything you changed on any of your network settings in Windows or in the adapter properties? Maybe this problem will clear up after youu install the released version of Windows 7. That is what I would try at this point. If it helps, I have the same model adapter in a Linux box, and the driver "out of the box" connects to the switch at 10 Mbps.
I think you are on to something here. In that case, I do not know any way to work around that for Windows 7. In other words, you should not be seeing an option to configure the Gigabit Master Slave Mode in the Advanced Adapter Settings and configuring the Gigabit Master Slave Mode is probably having no effect. Still, I wonder if we could get around this by adding a new string to the registry key for that adapter. I do not know if that would work, but you could always try. Like I said.
I do not know if this will allow you to connect at 1 Gbps or not, but maybe this will work. Please post your results back here. Changed MasterSlave from 0 to 1, rebooted, 10 Mbps connection. Changed it to 2, rebooted, 10 Mbps connection. Considering what you had to do in Linux, this appears to be an incompatibility between your switch and that adapter. I cannot think of anything else for you to try other than a different Ethernet adapter or a different switch.
I can't see how to tell. Anyway still at 10 Mbps with it. Thanks for updating the thread. No driver update is planned, but I will still escalate this issue to the appropriate sustaining team. I can't promise a new driver, but maybe we can come up with something that will help. I will post updates to this thread as I have them.
Sorry to revive a dead thread. My onboard runs just fine at 1 GB and Auto Negotiates almost instantly. I've tried forcing it, and what not. Still nothing. I'm using a Netgear switch as well. Netgear Prosafe gs to be exact I cannot update the switch and would really hate it if i had to. My only probably vein hope is that the release version of Win 7 64 secretly includes at least some sort of generic driver for this thing.
I too have a Laserjet that is a wonderful old work horse; it just keeps running just fine. It was previously noted that the Windows 7 Update Advisor states that this printer is not compatable with Windows 7. The Update Advisor for Vista says exactly the same thing! I have not as yet used Windows 7 but intend to do so soon, and I don't want to loose my ability to use the Laserjet Has anyone actually run the LJ with Windows 7?
It would appear so from one of the above messages, but it is really not that clear to me. Also, I note that the Laserjet is listed as a compatable printer with Windows 7 with a driver available from HP.
Since the LJ and LJ appear to be very similar machines, is there anyway to use the driver with the ? An update on my own post I have installed Win 7 Home Premium bit as an update and lo and behold , my Laserjet works great!!
Soooo, it would appear that if one has been running Vista and the HP Laserjet printer without any problems, that it should run OK on Windows 7 as well. I did not do anything special, just the normal update install of Win 7. I have been searching the web site to try to find a way to make by trusted old Laserjet speak to Windows 7 on my new computer and came across this community.
I guess most of you are in the USA but this issue possibly goes world wide. Let me provide a more critical perspective of HP and Microsoft. We all have a perfectly good printer. We are all seeking to use the most modern OS system from the planet's biggest software supplier.
Yet we cannot get our printers to work without a specialised discussion board that explains about using RTM? This is simply absurd. While both HP and Microsoft go on and on about their environmental credentials they fail to be able to get together and allow us to use a perfectly good printer with modern software.
So what I am supposed to do - chuck away my LJ and buy something else? So much for saving the planet!!!! Why doesn't HP just create the necessary driver to make the thing work and put it on their web-site to download? Why doesn't Microsoft have something more useful than a link to the HP website which is a complete waste of time.
Why did the HP representative at my local store tell me that Windows 7 would be compatible with my HP printer? Didn't find what you were looking for? Ask the community. The temptation to post "first" is sometimes too great to overcome. It will be a long wait for all that stuff to get sorted out before we can enjoy W7 like we are now enjoying a fully working crack for Vista…. Why worry goto Microsofts website and download it and they even give you a key to activate it also so get it free to try. I can't even get the beta's to install, My sata drivers refuse to have it.
But nooo thanks! Is this the same copy from China that has been taken out of the original ISO and repackaged by a third party chinese group? And you want to check the files with the same hash sigs of the chinese group that made them, dont think so :-] as it smells of tampering? Get the genuine release in the form of the ISO or take advantage of the pre order offer and get a copy when it comes out.
Just wondered if that is what you have to do or is bs, if anyone can post a message i will appreciate it. I've pre-ordered so can't be bothered with any illegal editions. Will just live off RC1 until actual release. Looks like you're reading from the manual of your coffee-machine. Floopys for osmething upgrades will indeed make the pressure of the hot water measured in Bars switch from 32b to 64b. It will increase the speed of your coffee tapping. Make sure that when you contact the manufacturer of your coffee machine you do request the floopy in a 5.
Those floopy sizes have the reputation of being easier to grind and have a greater h20 absorbency, that shouldn't make the install osmething seem too long. Im waiting on a official RTM to come, I think its build , and one that isn't Chinese cracked or whatever. Any new compiles beyond this is gonna have the sub-build updated, but RTM is locked at main-build.
I got a weird error trying this one on vm Gonna test soon this from iapula Microsoft. Everyone knows RC has been out for quite awhile. These "supposed" or "possible" RTM builds are meant to be the builds to be sent to the manufacturer to be written on the discs. And if you didn't know all the betas are suppose to be out of session by now. If you're not running at least a RC something is wrong with you.
Also x86 and x64 are two very different things. Read up on them. Then start discussing them. Some cpus are able to handle 64 bit systems and some are still stuck on the old 32 bit. Its true thought that it is based on your cpu so i give you that. If u have less than 3gb of ram stick to x86 if u have 3gb or more then x64 is for you.
